Councilmember Trey Terry is a US Army combat veteran, former school board president, husband, father, and third-generation Goodyear resident, elected to the Goodyear City Council in 2024.

Graduating from Millennium High School in 2005, Trey then joined the United States Army as a Cavalry Scout. After spending a year stationed along the DMZ in Korea, he was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas where he later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He spent over one year in Iraq where his recon platoon performed over 100 time-sensitive raids to capture high-value targets and dangerous terrorists. He helped capture or eliminate senior leaders of Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and local Iranian-supported militia insurgents, dismantling their operational capacity in the Baghdad region.

Since Trey was honorably discharged from the Army, he has worked in numerous public policy arenas, including for a member of the United States House of Representatives. He has also worked extensively in media relations and communications, and currently works for a national non-profit organization in that field.

In 2020, Trey was elected to the Agua Fria Union High School District Governing Board, which serves two of Goodyear's high schools (Millennium and Desert Edge). In 2022, he was elected Board President and served in that capacity until 2024. In his time on our local school board, Trey was dedicated to expanding career and vocational training programs, improving communications with parents and the community, and ensuring the district secured funding for a new high school that is now being built in Goodyear. He also pushed groundbreaking school safety and security measures that have become a model for other districts in Arizona and across the entire country.

Currently, Trey serves on the City-Audit and the City Boards and Commission Selection Sub-committees. He also represents Goodyear on the Arizona League Public Safety, Military Affairs and Courts Policy Committee.

Trey is an alum of the Goodyear Leadership Enrichment and Development program.

Trey, and his wife Elise, are raising their three young sons here in Goodyear.
