Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) Candidate Agency

Our department is proud to be a Candidate Agency in the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) process and is actively working toward achieving accredited status.

We are scheduled to appear before the Commission in March 2027 as the culmination of years of organizational assessment, planning, and continuous improvement.

The CFAI accreditation process, administered by the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), is recognized as the gold standard for fire and emergency service organizations. It requires agencies to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of their programs, services, operations, and performance against nationally recognized best practices and performance indicators.

As a Candidate Agency, we are engaged in a rigorous self-assessment process that examines every aspect of our organization, including emergency response, community risk reduction, training, leadership, fiscal responsibility, personnel, facilities, and strategic planning. This effort ensures that our services align with the needs and expectations of the community we serve.

While we have not yet achieved accredited status, our participation in the CFAI process reflects an ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. The accreditation journey itself provides valuable opportunities to strengthen our organization, enhance service delivery, and ensure that we remain responsive to changing community risks and priorities.

We look forward to presenting our accomplishments to the Commission in March 2027 and continuing our pursuit of excellence in service to our residents, businesses, and visitors.
