Managing Water Resources 

The City of Goodyear maintains a well-diversified water supply portfolio to meet the needs of this growing community for years to come. Goodyear maintains a 100-year designation of assured water supply that demonstrates the City's ability to provide continuous availability of physical water resources and the legal right to use them to serve the city's customers.

This means that any new development, being residential, commercial, or industrial, is guaranteed (or will have access to) water for 100 years. Essentially, each vacant piece of land in Goodyear has an allocation of projected water so we can grow responsibly. Properly managing water resources and investing in Goodyear’s water future has long been a priority for the city. 

Shortage Preparation and Drought Management 

Understanding that the City of Goodyear resides within an arid environment susceptible to drought cycles and climate variability concerns, Goodyear plans to ensure a sustainable and resilient water supply for its customers. The city continuously works to better prepare the City and its customers to adapt to conditions that could change rapidly and significantly.

To help maintain a renewable supply and its 100-year Designation of Assured Water Supply the city has a robust water plan that includes: 

• Implementing conservation initiatives  
• Storing water underground
• Reusing reclaimed water 
• Entering into collaborative agreements
• Development of additional supplies
